The Gift of Watching the Gifted

For movie enthusiasts, the change of the movie posters outside the movie theatres brings excitement and thrill to discover ideas and obtain interesting knowledge  from stories in fiction, science, comedy and romance, action and drama, but not in my case. Well, because I didn't had a childhood of going into a movie theatre or spending the whole day on watching movies, yes! you got it right. I grew up traditionally, primitive of these stuff. I had my first movie experience inside the cinema when I was 20 years old (lol) and it's in Gateway Manila. If not because I'm preparing for the licensure exam, and I need some time to laugh out the tension and pressure, I wouldn't dare to try. (hahahaha) Honestly,  I find so expensive to go on movie theatre where in fact you can just buy a pirated copy of the movie out there (dvd copy ofcourse). hahaha

The reason why I'm writing this blog post is I had a wonderful experience last Saturday. We (together with my officemate) came across the cinema house of Robinsons' Place Bacolod at around 5:30 pm and we find it so early to home straight after office work and so we've decided to look for some movie on the dashboard. My buddy seemed to like the tandem of Sam Milby, Anne Curtis and Cristine Reyes in "The Gifted" and I was like "what in the world this guy would watch a Filipino- made Comedy film?". But seems so persuasive, "okay, i'll give it a try".

The Movie

It’s a closeness defined by brainpower but bound by what they see as hideousness. And though The Gifted started out as an ordinary story of a bullied ugly ducklings,  but there’s more to its denouement than the "tarayan". In this story, 2 ugly ducklings with very powerful intelligence clashed fighting for the superiority and influence.

The Gifted isn’t a love story or a heavy drama, not in the traditional sense at least. The Gifted goes skin- deep when it comes to the  comedy aspect of the story along with superficial cut of a love triangle that spice up the "tarayan" aspect of the film.

All’s well that ends well
I lifted my butt out of the seat when I saw the cast of characters, when suddenly a scene flashed on the big screen. It was the biggest twist of the story, that if I hurriedly went out of the cinema I would have missed the true story of the two Gifted. The Gifted ends with a ridiculously twisted sequence that tells us the truth behind Yuzon’s book and the real story behind Aica and Zoey. Suddenly, the subject turns to be the mirror of Yuzons' (Milby) self.

Because of this movie, I am forced to scan the DVD stalls out in the city to find a copy of the block- buster film of the two gifted; the "No Other Woman" to come up with a comparison of the powerful duo, "bida- kontrabida" team up  and the overflowing sultriness of the two leading ladies in the country.

For those who haven't hit the cinema yet, please grab a seat for the "Gifted". Feel free to click the link for the full trailer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqNc93EeNbA
